About Jonathan Abrahams

After successfully completing my A-Levels I attended Middlesex University and finished a year long Art & Design Foundation Course, which is usually seen a a beneficiary precursor to an art based degree.

I then undertook a three year interior architecture and design degree course. It was during this course that I developed a love of computers. Most fellow students' drawings, typography, photographs and plans were hand drawn and collated together via glue and tape. However, I was able to move on a stage further and complete all my work using Photoshop to develop a sleeker portfolio. I found this was more time efficient and therefore was able to devote extra time to learning HTML, so I was therefore able to design my portfolio in web form.

I graduated from Brighton University in 2002 with an upper second class degree with honours and due to the nature of my course, I am now skilled in photography, videography, video editing, and sculpture and well as many areas of design. Following graduation, I worked as a freelance web designer and as the main designer for Plattweb, for which I have recently completed my 60th design. Please see the web design section for the latest designs.

In 2003 I worked for an events company, Hyperactive Events, and was the main graphics designer for the prestigious Vodaphone staff party (see print design for PDF of project). The party was for approximately 12,000 people, had entertainment including Robbie Williams, Lulu and Bryan Adams and had a multi-million pound budget. My role during this time included designing all signage, wall art and posters, table top prints, parking invitations and permits and also working out the layout of all interior furniture and the positions of the funfair rides. In this role I also worked on the Virgin Radio 10th anniversary party.

In 2005 I joined a leading clothing company as graphic and web designer. During my five years I have had many responsibilities which have included:

  • Maintaining and designing the company's 5 main websites
  • Suggesting ideas on how the day to day administration of the website can be improved and streamlined
  • Taking photographs and editing images of all products on the site
  • Assisting the photographer with lighting design during clothing photoshoots
  • Retouching all images to be used for web and print
  • Producing over 20 brochures, catalogues and flyers totalling hundreds of pages
  • Creating printed adverts which have featured in publications such as Cosmopolitan and The Guardian
